93. Thrypticus tarsalis Parent, 1932 View in CoL ( MEDETERINAE ) – new to Croatia
[12] 1♂, 29.V.2011, SW.
Habitat. RECORDED FROM GRASSY VEGETATION IN OPEN WET FORESTS AND WOODED HEATHLAND ON SANDY SOILS.
94.? Xanthochlorus tenellus (Wiedemann, 1817) ( XANTHOCHLORINAE ) – new to Croatia
[10] 2♀, 30.viii.2012, ET; [11] 1♀, 30.viii.2007, ET.
Habitat. RECORDED FROM OPEN, RATHER DRY DECIDUOUS FORESTS AND FOREST EDGES.
Remarks. SINCE THE DESCRIPTION OF TWO NEW SPECIES FROM THE UK bY CHANDLER & NEGRObOV (2008), MANY PREVIOUS IDENTIFICATIONS OF Xanthochlorus SPECIMENS HAVE PROVEN INCORRECT. DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE COLORATION OF THE DORSAL PART OF THE MESONOTUM IS AbOUT THE ONLY CHARACTER TO SEPARATE FEMALES OF THE DIFFERENT SPECIES, IDENTIFYING FEMALES REMAINS TRICKY. THE THREE CROATIAN FEMALES ALL HAVE A PREDOMINANTLY REDDISH YELLOW MESONOTUM WITH A DISTINCT bUT SMALL METALLIC GREEN SPOT ON THE PRESCUTELLAR DEPRESSION THAT NOT REACHES THE 4th PAIR OF DORSOCENTRAL bRISTLES, WHICH SUGGESTS X. tenellus . THEY DIFFER CONSISTENTLY FROM BELGIAN SPECIMENS OF X. galbanus CHANDLER & NEGRObOV, 2008 AND DO NOT bELONG TO X. silaceus CHANDLER & NEGRObOV, 2008 WHICH FEATURES AN OFTEN INDISTINCT TO AbSENT PRESCUTELLAR PATCH. HOWEVER, AS WE ONLY FOUND FEMALES AND THUS ARE UNAbLE TO bE AbSOLUTELY CERTAIN (e.g., ALSO X. luridus NEGRObOV, 1978 IS REPORTED FROM GREECE), WE ADDED A qUESTION MARK TO THE NAME.
THE IDENTITY OF THE FOLLOWING SPECIMENS COULD NOT bE ESTAbLISHED WITH AbSOLUTE CERTAINTY:
Gymnopternus SP. [10] 1♀, 27.VII.–28.VIII.2007, ET.
Medetera SP. [11] 1♀, 25.VII.2007, ET.
