H. oldhamii View in CoL group
This group contains only H. oldhamii , which is the only species of the genus that has 5–7 leaflets. It is mainly distributed in China, as well as South Korea and Japan. Our findings based on the cpDNA tree and the combined ITS and cpDNA tree show that this species has much affinity with the two North American species because they form a reliable clade. In the ITS tree, H. oldhamii formed a monophyletic clade as sister to the H. podocarpum group. For a better understanding of its origin, more DNA sequences are required to build a better phylogenetic tree and to perform a deeper evolutionary history study.
