Type:— PERU. Pasco: Oxapampa, Distr. Huancabamba, sector Milpo, parte alta camino a Santa Barbara , zona de amortiguamiento del parque Nacional Yanachaga-Chemillén , 3000 m, 01 February 2005, A . Monteagudo 8058 (holotype: MO! isotype: USM) .

Distribution: — Peru, in the departments of Junín and Pasco. Present in the eastern cordillera of the central Peruvian Andes, near the Yanachaga-Chemillén National Park

Notes:— Epidendrum monteagudoi is similar to E. llatasii , but is recognized by the linear-lanceolate leaves, the flowers cream colored, the sepals 7.8–8 mm long, and the ovary with a prominent, inflated vesicle (vs. leaves elliptic, flowers greenish yellow, sepals 12–15 mm long, with the margins revolute, and the ovary with the vesicle thin and barely noticeable)..

Conservation Status:— DD. Data Deficient.
