Description of Lactococcus taiwanensis B5

Cells are Gram-staining-positive, non-flagellated and ovoid and rod-shaped. Colonies are circular, convex, glistening and yellowish white-colored after 3 days of incubation on MRS at 30℃. Negative reactions are obtained for nitrate reduction, indole production and gelatinase in API 20NE. Does not utilize D- glucose, L- arabinose, D- mannose, D- mannitol, N -acetyl-glucosamine, D- maltose, potassium gluconate, capric acid, adipic acid, malic acid, trisodium citrate and phenylacetic acid.
