2. Neoryssomus variabilis ( Korschefsky, 1934)
Oryssomus variabilis Korschefsky, 1934: 35 –36 (original description); Blackwelder, 1945: 446 (check list). Neoryssomus variabilis: Hofmann, 1972: 83 –84 (new combination; description; morphological details and male genitalia figured).
Type material: Deutsches Entomologisches Institut, Berlin-Dahlen,“Prov. Concepcion, Chile, August 1903, P. Herbst leg.”.
Geographical distribution: Chile: Aconcagua to Concepcion ( Hofmann 1972).
Remarks. Hofmann (1972), recognized some shared characteristics of these two species, Oryssomus variabilis and Cranoryssus germainii , mainly in the shape of the body very flattened, downward pronotum and posterior angles strongly rounded, placing them in a new genus, Neoryssomus . It differs from Oryssomus by having 11 antennomeres and from Gordonoryssomus by the flattened body.
