TS: Spatalina argentata birmalina Bryk, 1949 View in CoL

The genus Spatalina was established by Felix Bryk in 1950 from the type species Spatalina argentata birmalina Bryk, 1949 . The genus is characterized by antennas of the males are short bipectinated, whereas the females are filiform. Generally, the ground colour of the wings are brown to black with whitish scales (in S. birmalina Bryk, 1949 and S. argentata (Moore, 1879) the ground colour is grey). Black dots mark the discal spot on the forewings. The dorsal tooth is prominently developed but located near the base ( Schintlmeister 2008). Spatalina is globally represented by eight species, which are distributed from Nepal, NE India, Myanmar, SW China, Vietnam, Laos and Thailand. In the present study, a ninth species is described, Spatalina rimbiensis Irungbam & Schintlmeister , sp. nov. from Sikkim and NE India.
