Acronicta (Acronicta) lilacina (Hampson, 1914) View in CoL
Acronycta lilacina Hampson, 1914 , Annals and Magazine of Natural History. (8)13: 156, (Type-locality: China, Sichuan,
Chungkiang [BMNH, London]) Synonymy: succedens Draudt, 1937 , syn. n. Acronycta succedens Draudt, 1937 , Entomologische Rundschau 54(30–32): 382, Pl. IV: 3b. Type material reported: "
Zahlreiche Stuke in beiden Geschechtern von Likiang (North Yuennan) [Yunan], von ende April bis Mitte Juni."
Material examined. 1 male, Hoeng-shan (900m) Provinz Hunan, 20. vi 1933 . H. Höne; 7 females with same labels, 24.vi, 10, 11, 16.vii, 16, 20.viii, 1933; 1 male, Wenchow, (Chekiang) 22.v.1939 H. Höne, Praep. Höne, 286 Ch. Boursin; 1 female, Wenchow, 22.v; 1 female, Batang 1.viii 1936.
Notes. We did not find any specimen with data corresponding to the type locality. The additional label "Type verloren" [type lost] is pinned under the identification label " Acronicta succedens ". Probably all specimens from the type series are lost. However, all examined specimens agree well with the original description and illustration given by Draudt (1937). We synonymize A. succedens (syn. n.) with A. lilacina by comparison of the series of specimens from collection of ZFMK and original description of A. succedens with the photograph of the holotype Acronicta lilacina , published by Krusek and Behounek (1996). Due to misidentification the species was incorrectly illustrated and reported for China by Chen (1982) as Acronicta subpurpurea (Matsumura, 1926) .
Distribution. China (Shaanxi, Hunan, Zhejiang, Sichuan, Yunnan), North Thailand.
