COMMON NAME (S): Tussock moth SYNONYM(S): Porthesia natalensis Janse 1915 .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Gambia, Kenya, Malawi, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Lusaka, in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants include One Rhamnaceae species ( Ziziphus mucronata Willd. ), one Salicaceae species ( Salix sp. ) and one Myrtaceae species ( Psidium guajava L.) in South Africa ( Prinsloo & Uys 2015; Taylor

1953) In addition to this, the African Moths (2019) webpage lists the following as larval foodplants of the taxon; two Fabaceae species (i.e. Acacia mearnsii De Wild. and Vachellia karroo (Hayne) Banfi

& Galasso), one Lamiaceae species ( Volkameria glabra (E.Mey.) Mabb. & Y.W.Yuan ), one Pinaceae species ( Pinus patula Schltdl. & Cham. ), one Cannabaceae species ( Trema orientalis (L.) Blume) and one Salicaceae species ( Salix babylonica L. [the Babylon willow or weeping willow]).
