COMMON NAME (S): Large striped hawkmoth, Large Striped Hawk or Greater silver-striped hawkmoth. SYNONYM(S): None.

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Algeria, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central Africa Republic, Comoros, Côte d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Gabon, Gambia, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania,

Mozambique, Nigeria, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, S„o Tomé and Príncipe, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, South Africa,

Spain, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Kafue and Univerity of Zambia (Lusaka) **, in Lusaka Province ; Monze and Livingstone, in the Southern Province ; Ndola, in Copperbelt Province ; Serenje, in Central Province .

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larval foodplants include: two Balsaminaceae species ( Impatiens balsamina L. and I. walleriana Hook. f. ), one Vitaceae species ( Vitis vinifera L. ), two Rubiaceae species ( Morinda citrifolia L. and Pentas lanceolata (Forssk.) Deflers ) and one Araceae species ( Caladium sp. ) in Seychelles ( Legrand 1966;

Gerlach & Matyot 2006); one Fabaceae species ( Vigna sp. ), one Balsaminaceae species ( Impatiens

sp.), one Onagraceae species ( Fuchsia sp. ), two Vitaceae ( Cissus sp. and Vitis vinifera L. ) and one

Rubiaceae View in CoL species ( Richardsonia sp. ) in South Africa ( Fawcett 1901; Pinhey 1960; Prinsloo & Uys

2015); four Rubiaceae View in CoL species ( Spermacoce ruelliae DC. View in CoL , S. hepperiana Verdc. View in CoL , S. verticillata L. and

Oldenlandia corymbosa L.) and two Vitaceae species ( Vitis vinifera L. and Ampelocissus multistriata

(Baker) Planch.) in Côte d’Ivoire ( Vuattoux et al. 1989); two Rubiaceae species ( Morinda citrifolia L.

and Pentas lanceolata (Forssk.) Deflers ), one Vitaceae species ( Vitis vinifera L. ), one Balsaminaceae species ( Impatiens walleriana Hook.f. ) and one Araceae species ( Caladium sp. ) in Seychelles ( Matyot

2005; Gerlach & Matyot 2006) and two Convolvulaceae species ( Ipomoea cairica (L.) Sweet and I.

pileata Roxb.) and one Araceae species ( Anchomanes difformis (Blume) Engl. ) in an unnamed African country or countries ( MacNulty 1970).

one Polygonaceae species ( Oxygonum sinuatum (Hochst. & Steud ex Meisn.) Dammer ), one Geraniaceae species ( Pelargonium sp. ) and one Bignoniaceae species ( Spathodea campanulate P.Beauv. ).
