COMMON NAME (S): Pigmy Emperor or Edible caterpillars (at least in Zambia).

SYNONYM(S): Bunaea pygela Druce, 1886 .

IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE).

DISTRIBUTION: Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Kenya, Namibia , Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia,

Zimbabwe. LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province. LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Larvae feed on Burkea africana Hook. (Fabaceae) ( Pinhey 1972b; African Moths 2019). The caterpillars are consumed by some people in Zambia and are considered food (Edible caterpillars).
