COMMON NAME (S): Tortricid Moth. [Please note that this scientific name Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman, 1967 View in CoL was previously used for the crop pest called the Western spruce budworm or the Western Spruce Budworm Moth found in North America.
After the re-examination of the African species Archips occidentalis ( Walsingham, 1891) View in CoL , J. Razowski (2008)
transferred it to the genus Choristoneura , creating a homonym with Choristoneura occidentalis Freeman, 1967
an important defoliator of North American forests, causing the necessity to redefine the genus Choristoneura
( Fagua et al. 2019) The replacement name for C. occidentalis Freeman, 1967 is Choristoneura freemani
Razowski, 2008. The name Choristoneura occidentalis ( Walsingham, 1891) above indicates the Afrotropical
Tortricid moth pest whose details are given below].

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include: One Rubiaceae species ( Coffea sp. ), one Theaceae species ( Thea sp. ) and one Malvaceae species ( Gossypium sp. ) in the Democratic Republic of Congo; one Euphorbiaceae species ( Jatropha curcas L.) in Benin; one Rubiaceae species ( Coffea arabica L. ) and one Ochnaceae subspecies ( Ochna kirkii Oliv. ) in Kenya ; one Rutaceae species ( Citrus sp. ) in South Africa and four
Fabaceae species ( Acacia mearnsii De Wild. , Cajanus sp. , Glycine max (L.) Merr. and Vigna unguiculata
(L.) Walp.), one Lauraceae species ( Persea sp. ), one Pinaceae species ( Pinus patula Schiede ex Schltdl.
& Cham.), one Rosaceae species ( Rosa sp. ), one Rutaceae species ( Citrus aurantium L.), one Tiliaceae species ( Corchorus sp. ), one Amaryllidaceae species ( Allium cepa L.), one Cupressaceae species

One Bethylidae wasp species ( Goniozus sp. ), one Braconidae wasp species ( Apanteles sp. ), one Chalcididae wasp species ( Brachymeria boranensis Masi ), one Eulophidae wasp species ( Pediobius amaurocoelus (Waterston)) , one Trichogrammatidae wasp species ( Trichogrammatoidea lutea Girault ) and one Tachinidae , dipteran (true flies) species, namely, Nemorilla afra Curran , are reported as parasitoids of the taxon in South Africa.
