COMMON NAME (S): Banded pearl.

SYNONYM(S): Lepyrodes lepidalis Walker, 1859b ; Stenia pipleisalis Walker, 1859b ; Samea sidealis Walker, 1859d ; Hymenia meridionalis Walker, 1866a ; Samea vespertinalis Saalm ̧ller, 1880; Sameodes trithyralis Snellen, 1880b .

DISTRIBUTION: Australia (Queensland), British Indian Ocean Territory, Burma, Cameroon, China, Comoros, Cook Islands, Democratic Republic of Congo, Fiji, Gambia, Ghana, Hong Kong, India, Indochina, Japan, Java, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Malaysia, Mali, Mauritius, Mozambique, Nepal, New Guinea, Philippines, Réunion, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sulawesi, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Togo, Yemen, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Kafue and Chilanga, in Lusaka Province ; Monze and Pemba , in Southern Province; Mkushi, in Central Province.

LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include: one Verbenaceae species ( Tectona grandis L.f.), one Poaceae species ( Oryza sativa L.) and one Fabaceae species ( Stylosanthes erecta P.Beauv. ).
