COMMON NAME (S): Chestnut Eggarlet.
SYNONYM(S): Nyssia sobria Walker, 1865b .
IUCN STATUS: Not Evaluated (NE)
DISTRIBUTION: Djibouti, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia , South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: ‘Lusaka’, in Lusaka Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Acacia mollissima Willd. , A. caffra (Thunb.) Willd. and Vachellia karroo (Hayne) Banfi & Galasso from the plant family Fabaceae are host plants of the taxon in South Africa. The Fabaceae species namely, Acacia mollissima , is the host plant of the taxon in Tanzania, while a Peltophorum sp. (Fabaceae) is a host plant of the taxon in an unnamed place elsewhere in Africa . No host plant has yet been reported for the taxon in Zambia. The African Moths (2019) webpage, on the other hand, list the following as larval foodplants of the taxon: Four Fabaceae species, A. caffra (Thunb.) Willd. , A. karroo Hayne , Acacia mearnsii De Wild. and Peltophorum africanum Sond. and one Proteaceae species namely, Grevillea robusta A.Cunn. ex R.Br.
