COMMON NAME (S): Spotted Beet Webworm Moth or Spotted beet webworm.
SYNONYM(S): Zinckenia primordialis Zeller, 1852 ; Spoladea exportalis Guenée, 1854 ; Hymenia phrasiusalis Walker, 1859d ; Desmia rhinthonalis Walker, 1859d ; Spoladea spilotalis Saalm ̧ller, 1880.

DISTRIBUTION: Australia (Queensland), Belize, Bermuda, Canada (Ontario), Caucasus, Comoros, Costa Rica, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ecuador (Galápagos Islands), Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, Georgia, Guadeloupe, Hispaniola, Honduras, Hong Kong, India, Jamaica, Kenya, Madagascar, Martinique, Nigeria, Puerto Rico, Réunion, Seychelles, Sierra Leone, Somalia, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Taiwan, Uganda, USA, Zambia.
LOCALITY IN ZAMBIA: Kafue and Lusaka , in Lusaka Province; Monze and Livingstone, in Southern Province.
LARVAL HOSTPLANT(S): Host plants of the taxon include: one Liliaceae species ( Lilium canadense L.), one Amaranthaceae species ( Telanthera versicolor Regel ) and one Asteraceae species ( Wedelia sp. ) in the Réunion; one Liliaceae species ( Lilium canadense L.) in the Democratic Republic of Congo and; five Asteraceae species ( Synedrella nodiflora (L.) Gaertn., Eleutheranthera ruderalis (Sw.) Sch.Bip. , Eclipta prostrata (L.) L., S phagneticola trilobata (L.) Pruski and Melanthera aspera (Jacq.) Small ), two Amaranthaceae species ( Alternanthera sp. and Achyranthes sp. ) and two Chenopodiaceae species ( Spinacia oleracea L. and Beta vulgaris L.) in an unnamed African country or countries.
The African Moths (2019) webpage, lists a Liliaceae species ( Lilium canadense L. [ Canada lily, wild yellow-lily or meadow lily]), an Amaranthaceae species ( Telanthera versicolor Regel ) and a yet to be identified Asteraceae species ( Wedelia sp. ) as larval foodplants of this taxon.
