Type Locality: India, "Dachin, Khistwar, Kashmir (altitude, 9000 feet [2743 m])".
Vernacular Names: Kashmir Pygmy Shrew.
Distribution: Kashmir ( India) and N Pakistan.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Considered a subspecies of thibetanus by Dolgov and Hoffmann (1977) and Hoffmann (1987, 1996 a, b), but retained by Hutterer (1979) because of larger skull measurements. The problem remains unresolved.
