Echinopla striata, Smith   HNS , Proc. Linn. Soc. ii. 80. 3 [[worker]].

Worker. Length 3 lines. - Black: head, thorax and abdomen longitudinally striated; thorax oblong-quadrate, the scale of the peduncle transverse. The head with an obscure blue tinge; the palpi pale testaceous. Thorax: the margins denticulate; the anterior margin rounded, the lateral ones narrowed to the middle, and again widened posteriorly; above very slightly convex; the division between the pro- and mesothorax distinctly marked by a suture; between the meso- and metathorax is a deep stran- gulation; the peduncle of the abdomen transverse, incrassate, and armed on each side with a straight stout spine. Abdomen orbiculate; the entire insect thinly sprinkled with erect black hairs.
