decussana Fabricius, 1775

Pyralis decussana Fabricius, 1775: 647 ; 1781: 278; 1787: 226; 1794: 250.

Type locality. Germany, Leipzig (“Habitat Lipsiae”). Material examined. None.

Identity. Syricoris lacunana ( Denis and Schiffermüller, 1775) ( Olethreutinae , Olethreutini ).

Remarks. Fletcher (1932) reviewed the status of Syricoris lacunana , a variable and widely distributed species in the Palaearctic, and included “ decussana Zetterstedt ” among its potential synonyms. There is no decussana described by Zetterstedt (1839: 984), but the latter author re-described many Fabrician species. Although this synonym has not been included in modern European catalogues, Brown (2005) revived its inclusion, and we follow that treatement here.
