Type species: Eremus atro-tectus Brunner von Wattenwyl, 1888 (= Melaneremus atrotectus )
Discussion. The genus comprises apterous and subapterous species. Even after the removal of two species to the genus Larnaca , the species composition is still heterogenous. The type species M. atrotectus , a male, has the ninth abdominal tergite divided in middle of posterior area. Through the resulting cleft, the pair of projections of the tenth tergite is visible. Unfortunately this species is only known from males. Other species have quite different modifications of the male abdominal apex.
