Type species: Pseudasarca arborea sp. nov.
Diagnosis. The new subgenus differs from Asarcogryllacris s. str. and Pseudolarnaca by the shape of the projections of the male ninth abdominal tergite forming transverse, rough granular bulges instead of being covered with spine like projections, while the paraproctes are upcurved as in both other subgenera but widening dorsad, at tip black and provided with denticles, forming the counterparts for the protuberances of the ninth tergite instead of having the dorsal tip acute, narrow obtuse or provided with a narrow disc-shaped end. Females are characterized by the short and straight ovipositor with obtuse tip. They differ from females of both other subgenera by the shape of the seventh abdominal sternite that is wider than long, extended posteriorly into a rather narrow process that divides into two narrow, styliform projections surpassing the base of the subgenital plate, while in Asarcogryllacris s. str. that sternite is elongate and provided with a wider robust process of various shape, and in Pseudolarnaca it terminates into a short, undivided process.
Etymology. The name of the new subgenus is a combination of the first half of the nominate genus with the prefix "pseudo"; meaning it is similar to Asarcogryllacris but does not fully agree.
