Figs. 31 View FIGURE 31 D–F

Material examined. Syntypes (2 females in alcohol): Papua New Guinea: Bismarck Archipelago, 1.i.– 31.xii.1905 — 1 female (Berlin ZMB); Bismarck Archipelago, Herbertshöhe?, 1.i.–31.xii.1903, coll. Dr. Dempwolff— 1 female (Berlin ZMB) .

Other specimens: Bismarck Archipelago, New Britain, leg. Dr. O. Finsch— 2 females (Berlin ZMB).

Diagnosis. This taxon is characterized by the large process from nearly base of the seventh female abdominal sternite. The process is bulging at base, afterwards long tongue-shaped, stout and surpasses the base of the subgenital plate ( Figs. 31 View FIGURE 31 D–E). The ovipositor is distinctly curved, with lateral furrow and slightly widened before tip ( Fig. 31F View FIGURE 31 ). Males are unknown. The female seventh sternite and subgenital plate of X. p. dempwolfi are similar to those of X. p. confluens ( Griffini, 1909b). The narrow apical area of the subgenital plate and the projection of the seventh sternite are longer in X. p. dempwolfi.
