Synonym: Typhlocypris (Typhlocypris) geratsi ( Broodbakker 1983d) Karanovic 2005 .

Type locality: from a hole dug in the bank of the Guarapiche River , Guarapiche, SUCRE State, Venezuela (10°31’ N, 63°24’ W). Holotype (1♀)— ZMA, Ost.150.786.

In Venezuela: corresponds to the type locality. Other localities in Broodbakker (1983d): FALCÓN State —S 1982/522, hole dug in sandy sediments along the banks of Rio Mitare , about 100 m downstream from the source of Rio Mitare , a large karst spring near Cabure , Sierra de San Luis (11°08’24” N, 69°38’38” W) ; S 1982/530, Cipare spring, 3 km north of Guaibacoa (11°24’51” N, 69°27’22” W) ; S 1982/531, hole dug on the banks of Acurigua River, in the town of Acurigua, Sierra de San Luis (11°18’54” N, 69°28’48” W) . ARAGUA State —hole dug in coarse sand and gravel along the banks of the Zuata River, 2 km north of San Casimiro (10°00’12” N, 66°59’47” W) .

Remarks: geographical distribution includes the Caribbean Islands and Venezuela ( Martens & Behen 1994). Karanovic (2005) proposes the combination Typhlocypris (Typhlocypris) geratsi ; however, the genus Typhlocypris has been redefined from morphological characters ( Namiotko et al. 2014), which validates the original assignment of Broodbakker (1983d). There is a possibility that the species distribution includes Australia, where Karanovic (2005) records a close form, P. cf. geratsi Broodbakker 1983d (≡ T. (T.) cf. geratsi ( Broodbakker 1983d)) .
