Notes
Colonies can be massive, flat or dome-shaped or, as observed here, encrusting. Maximum recorded size: 50 cm across. Corallites raised unevenly from the coenosteum, giving the colonies a bumpy appearance. Corallites are 2.5 to 6.0 mm in diameter. Colouration shades of brown, but tends to have a white upper surface with darker corallites. Goniastrea looks similar, but tends to be of uniform colour (Fig. 88).
