Entisberus archetypus Distant, 1903

( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 )

Entisberus archetypus: Distant 1903:72 . Entisberus archetypus, Distant 1904:66 .

Originally described from Sri Lanka ( Ceylon) ( Distant 1903), and reported from southwest China ( Zheng and Zou 1981), India, Vietnam, Malaysia (Pahang, Sabah), Indonesia (Sumatra), and New Guinea ( Kondorosy 2008). I have also seen specimens from Indonesia (Java, Krakataus), Malaysia ( Sarawak) and Singapore.

Kondorosy (2008) also illustrated E. archetypus and gave measurements for this species, and provided some key characteristics to distinguish E. archetypus from the male of E. bergrothi Kondorosy. However , with the discovery of the female of E. bergrothi and the study of additional specimens of E. archetypus , some other characteristic can now be cited.

Diagnosis. Antennae ochraceous, with only basal fourth of first segment dark ferruginous brown; more than half of first antennal segment extending beyond apex of head; anterior lobe of pronotum in male not strongly gibbous; anterior lobe of pronotum in both sexes with oblique furrows, but otherwise pruinose and without dense, decumbent, golden pubescence; humeral angles of pronotum sharply angulate, with corner excised; Y-shaped elevation of scutellum with a few ferruginous punctures in middle, and with middle elevated, but not distinctly ferruginous; mesosternum without spine in both sexes.

A dorsal habitus photograph of a female of E. archetypus from Indonesia (Krakataus, Rakata) is shown in Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 .
