Lectotype (Obermeyer in Codd & al., Fl. Southern Africa 1: 77. 1966): Herb. Linn. No. 1085.1 ( LINN) .

Generitype of Zannichellia Linnaeus.

Current name: Zannichellia palustris L. ( Zannichelliaceae ).

Note: Most authors since Obermeyer have treated 1085.1 (LINN) as the type, although van Vierssen (in Aquatic Bot. 12: 125-126. 1982) indicated Herb. Burser X: 126 ( UPS) as type (illustrating the fruits as f. 10) and has been followed by several later authors. However, Obermeyer’s choice of type has priority.
