Pimentelia kuanduensis Laboissière, 1939: 119 –120 ( Figs 7–9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ).

Type material examined. Lectotype: “ Angola, Huambo 1934, J. Pimentel / Agosto / 67 a / Type female / Pimentelia , kuanduensis m, V. Laboissière—Dèt. / Le Moult Vend., via Reinbek, Eing. Nr. 1, 1957 / AfriGa, specimen ID 893, specimen data, documented, 20.X.2005 ” ( ZMUH; Fig. 10 View FIGURES 10 ). Type locality: Angola, 12°46’S / 15°44’E.— Paralectotypes: 1 female, same data as Lectotype, but “Setembro” ( ZMUH); 1 ex., same data as Lectotype, but “Setembro” ( MZCP). A lectotype is herein designated to fix the name on a single specimen.

Diagnosis. Pimentelia kuanduensis can be easily distinguished by the thick, horizontally compressed and apically widened antennomeres and the oily or leathery sheen of the elytra. The third antennomeres are more than half as long as the fourth antennomeres and the second antennomeres are nearly as long as the third (length of second to third antennomere 0.56–0.62; length of third to fourth antennomere 0.53–0.55; Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). The sympatric P. maculata has shorter antennomeres, about two-third as long as the third (length of second to third antennomere 0.64–0.82 in P. m a c ul a t a; Fig. 14 View FIGURES 12 – 14 ). The pronotum is longer in P. kuanduensis (pronotal length to width 0.60 in P. kuanduensis ; 0.47–0.55 in P. maculata ). In P. m a c ul a t a the elytron is more widened in the apical third than in P. kuanduensis (maximal width of both elytra to length of elytron 0.56–0.61 in P. kuanduensis , 0.63–0.79 in P. maculata .

Total length. 7.85–10.90 mm (mean: 9.38 mm).

Head. Head yellowish-brown, dark brown or brown, labial and maxillary palpi brown. Antenna dark brown or black, in one type of P. kuanduensis first three antennomeres brown, darker from fourth antennomere. Length of second to third antennomere 0.56–0.62 (mean: 0.59), length of third to fourth antennomere 0.53–0.55 (mean: 0.54; Fig. 9 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Eyes rounded ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ) and with large interoccular distance, width of eyes to eye distance 0.37–0.41 (mean: 0.39).

Thorax. Pronotum trapezoidal, yellowish-brown, brown or brownish-black, with an oily sheen, irregularly punctuated. Pronotal width 2.60–3.50 mm (mean: 3.05 mm), pronotal length 1.55–2.10 mm (mean: 1.83 mm), pronotal length to width 0.60 (also mean). Elytra brownish-yellow, yellowish-brown or brown, with an oily sheen and deep punctuation. Elytral length 6.05–8.00 mm (mean: 7.03 mm), elytral width 3.40–4.90 mm (mean: 4.15 mm), maximal width of both elytra to length of elytron 0.56–0.61 (mean: 0.59; Fig. 7 View FIGURES 7 – 9 ). Meso- and metathorax brown or brownish-black, legs brown to dark brown, length of basi-metatarsus to metatibia 0.30 (also mean).

Abdomen. Brownish-yellow or yellowish-brown.

Male genitalia. Because the three examined specimens were all female, no characteristics of the median lobe are available.

Distribution. Only three specimens known from Angola ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ).
