Type Locality: "Frontière du Kokonoor", vicinity of Kukunor (Lake), China.
Vernacular Names: Long-tailed Mole.
Synonyms: Scaptonyx affinis Thomas 1912 ; Scaptonyx fusicaudatus Milne-Edwards 1872 .
Distribution: N Burma; S China, Tsinghai, Shensi, Sichuan and Yunnan; N Vietnam.
Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Includes affinis ; see Ellerman and Morrison-Scott (1966:35). Recently recorded from Mt. Tay Con Linh II in N Vietnam ( Lunde et al., 2003 b).
