P. championi Jeannel, 1936: 93,
1949: 98 (assignment to consobrinus View in CoL group); Matthews, 1888: 100 (as P. consobrinus , misidentification—see Note); Peck, 1973a: 137 (holotype seen, in poor conditions, redescription; as incertae sedis, i.e., unassigned to group); Perreau, 2013: 364 (holotype seen, in poor condition).
Holotype male [a single specimen in original description, assumed as holotype] in BMNH.
Type locality: Quiché Mountains, 3000 m, near Santa Cruz del Quiché, [Quiché Department], Guatemala.
Distribution: Guatemala: Quiché Department: known only from type locality.
Note: This species was misidentified as P. consobrinus LeConte [1854] in Matthews, 1888: 100 ( Guatemala: Quiché Mountains) (in Jeannel, 1936, who gives the impression of it being a synonym or homonym; reproduced in Peck, 1973a).
