Acknowledgement
We are grateful to Mr. M.D. Webb ( BMNH) for various helpful suggestions and also for the images of types of Idiocerines in the Natural History Museum, London. We are grateful to Mr. Ken Merrifield and Mr. Fernley Symons (both BMNH) for imaging the specimens. Dr. Thierry Bourgoin (Parish Museum) kindly helped to image the Lethierry’s types of Idiocerus . Dr. Stuart McKamey ( NMNH) searched for some types of idiocerines in the museum for this study. Dr. Qinquan Xue ( Yangling , China) offered critical comments on an earlier draft of this paper. Critical comments by Dr. Chris Dietrich (Illinois Natural History Survey, Champaign) on an earlier draft improved the presentation considerably.
