Genus Jogocerus Viraktamath View in CoL

Jogocerus Viraktamath 1979a: 17 View in CoL . Type species: Jogocerus freytagi Viraktamath View in CoL , by original designation.

Diagnosis. Among the genera with a rugose pronotum from the Indian subcontinent (namely Tasnimoceerus and Nilgiriscopus ), it differs in the shape of the clypellus, forewing venation and male genitalia. From Tasnimocerus it differs in having the clypellus narrow at base (broad at base in Tasnimocerus ), outer (third) subapical cell less than half as long as second subapical cells and forewing veins uniformaly colored (outer subapical cell more than half as long as third and forewing veins alternately marked with dark brown and white in Tasnimocerus ), dorsal apodeme of aedeagus well-developed (absent in Tasnimocerus ) and the style with ventral margin crenulate (smooth in Tasnimocerus ). It differs from Nilgiriscopus in having a narrow based clypellus (parallel sided in Nilgiriscopus ), forewing with tthree subapical cells(two in Nilgiriscopus )and male anal collar process and pygofer ventral processes well-developed(absent in Nilgiriscopus ). Meta basitrsomere distal transverse row with 2 platellae flanked by one sta on either side ( Fig. 29E View FIGURES 29 ). Female sternite VII twice as wide at base as long medially, narrowed posteriorly with posterior margin slightly concave medially ( Fig. 61N View FIGURES 61 ). Valvula I slightly curved, sculptured area occupying distal half length, strigae delicate, oblique and occupying dorsal 0.5 width of valvula ( Figs 68 View FIGURES 68 AB). Valvula II slightly curved, with toothed area occupying distal half length, teeth prominent, squre tipped, spaced less than their own width ( Figs 68 View FIGURES 68 CD).

Remarks. Viraktamath (1979) has adequately described the genus. The genus at present contains only the type species from the Indian subcontinent. However, Zhang & Li (2008) and Xue & Zhang (2017) described new species of the genus from China. The genus now contains four species one from the Indian subcontinent and three from China.
