Andersonaltica elongata Linzmeier & Konstantinov , new species

( Figs 8–12 View FIGURES 8 – 12 , Map 1)

Description. Body ( Figs 8, 9 View FIGURES 8 – 12 ) length 2.07 mm, width 1.15 mm. Dorsal part of head and pronotum dark brown; elytra, ventral part of body and antennomeres seven, eight and nine dark chestnut brown; legs and two apical antennomeres light chestnut brown; six basal antennomeres yellow. Elytral hairs yellowish gold to brown, lighter hairs forming two or three narrow, poorly defined bands and patches.

Head ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 8 – 12 ) with vertex lacking longitudinal ridge above antennal calli. Frontal ridge acute ventrally, followed by narrow longitudinal ridge beyond anterofrontal ridge into middle of clypeus. Anterofrontal ridge well developed laterally. Head surface densely covered with relatively long, well visible setae.

Pronotum ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 8 – 12 ) 1.32 times wider than long. In lateral view apical part more convex than basal. Lateral margin slightly convex. Anterolateral pore present. Two tall elongate elevations on pronotum. Pronotal punctures large, spaced evenly, distance between them much smaller than diameter of puncture. Elytral punctures spaced close together into striae, interspaces flat. Basal calli well developed, projected. Metatibia without preapical tooth situated before tarsal insertion ( Fig. 8 View FIGURES 8 – 12 ).

Median lobe of aedeagus with sides strongly converging apically in ventral view. Apical part without shallow impression. In lateral view, median lobe convex, basally more than apically ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 8 – 12 ).

Female unknown.

Type material. Holotype, 3. Labels: 1) MEXICO: Chiapas:/ 15km E San Cristóbal / 16.74689ºN 92.48985ºW / 2500m, 29-V-2008, sifted/ leaf litter, cloud forest/ LLAMA 08 Wm-A-05-1; 2) Holotype Andersonaltica elongata des. Linzmeier & Konstantinov 2011 ( CMNC).

Etymology. The specific name, derived from the Latin elongatus, refers to the elongate beetle body.

Remarks. Andersonaltica elongata is more similar to A. tuberosa than to other species of the genus. It can be separated from A. tuberosa by the following characters: elytral interspaces flat; median lobe of aedeagus with sides strongly converging apically in ventral view; apical part without shallow impression; median lobe of aedeagus more convex basally than apically in lateral view.
