ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Pyrgota undata Wiedemann, 1830 (as “ Myopa undata ”).

TYPE SPECIES: Pyrgota undata Wiedemann, 1830 (as “ Myopa undata ”), by monotypy.

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 264) ].

FAMILY: PYRGOTIDAE .

REMARKS: Wiedemann (1830a: 581) listed the only included species as “ Myopa undata Catal. Insect. quae Vienn. etc. 1803”, which refers to Megerle (1804) and the species Myopa undata described in that catalog. The I.C.Z.N. (1993: 79–82 [Opinion 1710]) suppressed all the catalogs of Megerle, thus Myopa undata in Megerle (1804) is an unavailable name for nomenclatural purposes. The first work to make the name available was Wiedemann (1830a: 581) where it was described as Pyrgota undata . Thus the species-group name takes the authorship and date of its first availability in Wiedemann (1830a).

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Rhamphomyia Meigen, 1822 .

REMARKS: Criteria to make this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.

35. Rhaphiorhynchus Wiedemann, 1821b: 9 [ 1821c: 59]. ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Rhaphiorhynchus planiventris Wiedemann, 1821 . TYPE SPECIES: Rhaphiorhynchus planiventris Wiedemann, 1821 , by monotypy. CURRENT STATUS: Junior synonym of Pantophthalmus Thunberg, 1819 [ teste Val (1976: 70) ]. FAMILY: PANTOPHTHALMIDAE . REMARKS: There are two original spellings of this genus in Wiedemann (1821b): Raphiorhynchus (page 45) and

Rhaphiorhynchus View in CoL (page 9). Acting as First Reviser, according to Article 24.2.4, Wiedemann (1828: 105) by usage of only one spelling determined Rhaphiorhynchus View in CoL as the correct original spelling.
