TYPE SPECIES: Graptomyza longirostris Wiedemann, 1820 , by original designation (on plate) .
CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 145) ].
FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .
REMARKS: The original type designation is made by virtue of the plate legend indicating that the figure is of the type of the genus. Graptomyza longirostris (Fig. 6) is the only species of this genus-group name figured as indicated on page 16.
