ORIGINALLY INCLUDED SPECIES: Graptomyza longirostris Wiedemann, 1820 ; Graptomyza brevirostris Wiedemann, 1820 .

TYPE SPECIES: Graptomyza longirostris Wiedemann, 1820 , by original designation (on plate) .

CURRENT STATUS: Valid genus [ teste Sabrosky (1999: 145) ].

FAMILY: SYRPHIDAE .

REMARKS: The original type designation is made by virtue of the plate legend indicating that the figure is of the type of the genus. Graptomyza longirostris (Fig. 6) is the only species of this genus-group name figured as indicated on page 16.

CURRENT STATUS: Incorrect subsequent spelling of Haematopota Meigen, 1803 .

FAMILY: TABANIDAE .

REMARKS: Criteria to make this name available as an emendation were not found to be fulfilled in this work.
