Notes.
Melanospora zamiae is characterized by the production of ellipsoidal to citriform, smooth-walled ascospores with a depressed germ pore at each end. Doguet (1955) described the presence of bulbils; however, later studies did not mention the presence of such sort of propagules ( Calviello 1973, Cannon and Hawksworth 1982), which rarely occur in the genus.
