Distribution. Known only from three localities in W Ethiopia. View Figure

Descriptive notes. Head-body 72-6 77- 1 mm, tail 40-4-45- 1 mm, ear 10-2- 11- 7 mm, hindfoot 9-3-12- 1 mm, forearm 50-2-50- 4 mm. Dorsal fur is dark reddish mahogany; venter is orange, with grayish hue on abdomen. Ears are separated and have rounded tips. Ventral plagiopatagium is hairy proximal to forearm. Dorsal plagiopatagium, uropatagium, dactylopatagium, tail, legs, and feet are naked. Premaxillae are deeply notched and wide; sagittal crest is well developed; orbits are wide ventrally, with square outline and rounded corners; zygomatic arch is thin; palatine bones are angled inward anteriorly; tympanic bullae are well developed and spherical to conical with anterior projections; foramen magnum is slightly oval; and occipital condyles are well developed. All mandibular processes are well developed; coronoid process is low; and angular process extends to same level as mandibular condyle. I* is bilobed, with inner cusp much longer than highly reduced outer cusp; paracone of P* is much longer than metacone, which is longer than hypocone; P* has smaller diameter but longer paracone than M' and M* M' and M? are similar in size and structure, with trapezoid outline in occlusal view and interior edge shortest; metacone of M' and M? is longer than paracone, which is longer than hypocone; M? is highly reduced, one-half the length of M' and M* with rectangular outline in occlusal view; lower incisors are small, with I, and I; trilobed; paracone of Pp, is shorter than C; lower molars are similar in size and structure, with trapezoid outline in occlusal view, and exterior edge is shortest; paracone of lower molarsis longer than metacone thatis longer than hypocone; and M, is more reduced than M, and M,.

Habitat. Savanna and woodland habitats at elevations of 1390-2100 m.
