SUBGENUS ANCHOPHTHALMUS GERSTAECKER, 1854
Type species: Anchophthalmus silphoides Gerstaecker, 1854 ; by original designation.
Diagnostic characters: The subgenus Anchophthalmus is distinguished from all other Afrotropical platynotoid Platynotina by having lateral wings of mentum visible from the base.
Distribution: Burundi, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Kenya, Mozambique, Somalia, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe.
