TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico, Sinaloa, Rosario .
DISTRIBUTION: Coastal lowlands from S Sonora to N Nayarit ( Mexico).
SYNONYMS: rostratus Osgood.
COMMENTS: Chromosomal and biochemical evidence suggests that the northern subspecies rostratus is specifically distinct from pernix (J. L. Patton et al., 1981) .
