Type locality: West Sumatra, Padang .
Anthaxia (Merocratus) jakli: Bílý, 1997: 26 View in CoL , 82 (catalogue); 1998: 130 (revision); Bellamy, 2008:1411 (catalogue).
Described for the single male from West Sumatra. Recently collected near to the type locality: Harau Valley, cca 20 km N of Payakumbuh, 600 m, iv.–vi.2006, S. Jákl leg. (3 females). A further specimen was collected also in West Malaysia: Perak, 25 km NE of Ipoh, Banjaran Titi Wangsa, Korbu Mt., 1200 m, 27.i.–2.ii.1999, P. Pacholátko leg. (1 male).
Only a weak sexual dichromatism was observed: all 3 females from Harau Waley possess black elytral pattern with weak violet lustre while the elytral pattern of the male is bright violet.
Distribution. Indonesia (Sumatra), Malaysia (Perak) (new country record).
