Synthesiomyia Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893: 9 View in CoL , 110, 178. Type-species: Synthesiomyia brasiliana Brauer & Bergenstamm, 1893 View in CoL [= Cyrtoneura nudiseta Wulp, 1883 View in CoL ], orig. des.
Diagnosis. Eye bare; arista with very short hairs; dorsocentrals 2+4; prealar seta strong; katepimeron and anepimeron bare; katepisternals 1:2; wing veins bare; vein M strongly curved forward apically; lower calypter very enlarged; sternite 1 setulose.
Comments. The genus is newly recorded from New Caledonia, although there are two specimens in the MNHN collection that were identified by S. Shinonaga in 1991 but not mentioned in his paper of 1991 ( Shinonaga et al., 1991) .
