Dimensions. Körperlänge 15 mm. [14.48mm; 17.18mm]
Oldest label. Daesia cfr. tigrina (Poc) E. Obst, d. X.1912, l. 1.II.1912, Kwa Mtoro, Ussandaui (Kraepelin handwriting).

Type material. Lectotype ♀ designated here (ZMH-A0000174).
Taxonomic remarks. Roewer (1933) described this species based on two females from different localities and both are designated as types but no illustrations are given. Weidner (1959) mentions the specimen from Ussandani as the holotype and the female from Tabora as paratype in the ZMH collection. We were not able to locate the female specimen from Tabora and no other syntype specimens were found in SMF and ZMB. Note that the description is on page 405, not 305 ( Harvey, 2003: p. 227).
Collection remarks. The type locality refers to the Kwa Mtoro Village in the Ussandaui (Ussandawi) landscape of central Tanzania. The specimen was collected by Dr. Erich Obst who was leading an expedition of the Hamburg Geographical Society in 1911/12 to eastern Africa. An account of his travels is given in Obst (1912a, b).
Current systematic position. Daesiidae , Bitonupa kraepelini Roewer 1933 .
