Type:―SOUTH-WEST AFRICA [ NAMIBIA]. Dist. Rehoboth: Ababis , häufig auf Niederterasse, 17 October 1939, Volk 941 (holotype M-0107438 ! ; isotype LE-00011782 !) .

Note: ―The accession LE-00011783 (J.P.H. Acocks 13196a; South Africa. Prov. Cape, dist. Calvinia, Rietkolk Oos) is listed by JSTOR Global Plants as a paratype of Salsola barbata .

‒ Salsola calcarea C.A.Sm. , in schedis, Fleck 367a (holotype PRE-0374285-1!; isotype Z-000002797!), nom. nud. (Art. 38.1a of ICN).

Distribution: ―Namibia: Klein Karas region, Rehoboth, Naukluft Mts, Namib Desert (Lüderitz); South Africa (NC, WC): Gamka Karoo, Namaqualand, central and northern Bushmanland.
