Holotype: MNHNP 4871 View Materials .
Type locality: Brazil.
Distribution: Region 5. Orinoco and Amazon Basins ( Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Brazil, Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, French Guiana), and on the island of Trinidad ( Trinidad and Tobago). In Venezuela, only a few localities in the south and east (Amazonas, Bolívar, Delta Amacuro, Monagas, and Sucre states).
