Lyrella hennedyi var. neopolitana (neapolitana) (Cleve) Ryabushko (2006: 61)
Basionym: Navicula hennedyi var. neapolitana Cleve (1895: 58)
Valves broadly elliptic with subcuneate apices, length 150 µm, breadth 78 µm. Lateral areas narrow, about 1/8 of the breadth of the valve, with large scattered dots. Striae 7,5 in 10 µm, areolae 10 in 10 µm (cited from Cleve 1895: 58).
Distribution:—Marine species, rather rare variety, known only from the Mediterranean Sea (H. & M. Peragallo 1897 –1908). Black Sea, North-western region ( Proshkina-Lavrenko 1963a, Ryabushko 1991, 2006; Guslyakov 2002), Bulgarian ( Temniskova-Topalova & Petrova-Karadjova 1998), and Caucasian coast ( Proshkina-Lavrenko 1963a, Sapozhnikov 2001).
