Valves elliptic, length 30–90 µm, breadth 25–42 µm. Lateral areas very broad, plain, close to apical ends rapidly narrowed. Striae distinctively punctate, 10–16 in 10 µm, areolae 16–20 in 10 µm.

Distribution:—Marine species, commonly occurring along the North Sea and English Channel coasts ( Hendey 1964). Black Sea, Crimean ( Ryabushko 2006) and Caucasian ( Nevrova 1999b) coasts.
