Basionym: Navicula rudiformis Hust. 1964 (in Hustedt 1961 –1966: 384, fig. 1471)
Lyrella rudiformis (Hust.) Guslyakov & Karayeva 1992 (in Guslyakov et al. 1992: 36, pl. 47, figs 7, 8, nom. invalid)
Valves circular-elliptic to elliptic with broadly rounded apices; length 28–36 µm, breadth 22–26 µm. Raphe straight, axial area narrow, linear, central area narrow, transversely rectangular, connected to lateral areas. Lateral areas very narrow, in the middle constricted. Transapical striae coarsely punctate, in the middle parallel towards apices becoming radiate, 11–13 in 10 µm.
Distribution:—Marine species, found on coasts of Germany ( Hustedt 1961 –1966); Black Sea, North- Western region ( Guslyakov et al. 1992; Guslyakov & Nevrova 1998), Crimean coast ( Guslyakov & Nevrova 1998, Nevrova 1999, Nevrova & Revkov 2003, Nevrova et al. 2003).
