Navicula lyra Ehrenb. (1841: 203) nom. nud., Navicula lyra Ehrenb. (1843: 419 (131), pl. 1/1, fig. 9a). Type: FALKLANDS ( MALVINAS): “ Fauklands Inseln ” ( BHU)
The genus Lyrella includes at least 68 species, of which 53 are recognised as valid taxonomic names according to modern nomenclatural compilations ( Fourtanier & Kociolek 2011; Guiry & Guiry 2010).
Species of Lyrella identified in the Black Sea diatom assemblages are described below. Each new taxon is accompanied by a description, images and bibliographic data.
