Description

Adult ( Figure 5F View Figure 5 ). Wing expanse 12.0– 12.5 mm. Head yellow-white, with erect scale tufts laterally. Antenna yellow-brown except scape dark brown and flagellum ringed with dark brown on dorsal surface. Labial palpus with second segment white except basal three-quarters brown on outside; third segment pale yellow, dark brown ventrally. Thorax and tegula grey or yellow-grey. Fore wing ground colour yellow-white, diffused with grey-brown scales; costal margin dark grey at base, yellow distally, with a longitudinal black streak at middle; termen oblique, black; apex protruding; two basal black stripes edged with pale yellow placed below costa and along dorsum; dark brown triangular blotch from dorsum reaching three-quarters across wing, bordered by pale yellow; discocellular stigma black, surrounded by yellow; terminal fascia black, extending from distal part of apex to before tornus, wider anteriorly, obviously narrowing and becoming pale to near tornus, edged with yellow along inside; cilia pale yellow. Hind wing grey-brown; cilia grey. Fore leg white, tibia ochreous-brown on outside, tarsus ochreous-brown on basal one-third, black and white distally; mid- and hind legs with tibia pale yellow tinged with brown on outside, ringed with black and white distally.

Male genitalia

( Figure 6F View Figure 6 ). Uncus slender, gradually thinned to pointed apex. Gnathos U-shaped, thin. Valva irregularly quadrilateral, oblique and truncate terminally; costa slightly concave at base; dorsoproximal process large ring-like. Sacculus sclerotized strongly, wide basally, roundly concave at dorsal one-third, forming a papillate process beyond one-third, which then gradually narrowed to pointed apex. Aedeagus stout, about half length of valva, distal half obliquely truncate, forming a pointed dorsal process; cornutus constituted a group of spines.

Female

Unknown.

Diagnosis

This species is close to E. microdelta Meyrick superficially, but can be distinguished from it by the male sacculus with a papillate process beyond one-third reaching about one-third width of valva. In E. microdelta Meyrick , the sacculus has a trapezoidal process reaching about one-half width of valva.

Etymology

The specific name is derived from the Latin subrotundus (= nearly semicircular), referring to male sacculus roundly concave at dorsal one-third.
