Description. Length = 1.20–1.30 mm, width = 0.60–0.72 mm. Body ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) flattened, widest at posterior fifth of elytra, surface glossy and pubescent. Body brown to black; head black; pronotum, elytra, and abdomen dark brown to black; mouthparts, antennae, and legs brown. Head: Transverse and narrower than pronotum; widest across eye, arrow-shaped ( Fig. 2A View Fig ); clypeus transverse, antero-lateral margin rounded; eye moderately large and rounded in lateral aspect, with interfacetal setae; temple well-developed, diameter of eye in dorsal view about 2.0 times as long as temple; gular suture entire and broadly divergent posteriorly; neck constriction well-developed, setae present; intervals between punctures usually narrower than their diameter; antenna slender, moderately elongate and pubescent, antennomere 1 longest, 4 shortest, 1–11 elongate ( Fig. 2B View Fig ); anterior margin of antennomeres 9–10 with dense, short, and thick setae. Mouthparts: Labrum transverse, divided in middle, lateral margin rounded, anterior margin broadly emarginate; mandible triangle, apex bifid, with 2 subapical tooth, prostheca well-developed; maxillary palpus with 4 palpomeres, palpomere 1 small, 2 and 3 slightly dilated to apex, with dense setae, 4 short and slender; ligula not divided; mentum subquadrate, anterior margin emarginate. Thorax: Pronotum transverse, width = 0.45–0.50 mm, about 1.3 times as wide as long, widest at anterior third and with 5 grooves ( Fig. 2C View Fig ), surface pubescent; hypomera well-developed; scutellum an inverted triangle, posterior half with ovally impressed, impression about 1.38 times as wide as long ( Fig. 2E View Fig ); elytron elongate, pubescent, punctures distinctly smaller than those on pronotum, postero-outer margin rounded, posterior margin emarginate; posterior margin with membranous lobe ( Fig. 2G View Fig ); epipleural suture complete; procoxal rest W-shaped; mesoventral process extended to slightly less than half of mesocoxal cavity and pointed at apex; metaventral process short and broadly rounded ( Fig. 2D View Fig ); femur and tibia with long, slender pubescence, tibia with spines at apex; tarsal formula 4-4-4 ( Fig. 2F View Fig ). Abdomen: Slightly dilated to posterior margin of tergite V; tergites II–VII with 2 pairs of paratergites; posterior margin of tergite VII with fringe of short setae. Secondary sexual characteristics: Posterior-middle margin of male sternite VII emarginate and with many setae ( Fig. 3A View Fig ), posteriormiddle margin of male sternite VIII convex ( Fig. 3B View Fig ), posterior margin of female sternite VIII convex ( Fig. 3D View Fig ), male tergite IX with ventral struts, struts longer than other part, female tergite IX without ventral struts. Male sternite IX present. Genitalia: Aedeagus with 2 teeth ( Fig. 4A View Fig ); parameres long, slender and apex expanded ( Fig. 4C View Fig ); spermatheca as in Fig. 4D View Fig .

Distribution. Korea (South).

Remarks. This species is closely related to Carpelimus curvus Gildenkov from Taiwan but can be distinguished by the shape of parameres. Carpelimus curvus has an elongate, curved apex of the paramere, but C. koreanus has apically expanded parameres ( Fig. 4C View Fig ). Carpelimus koreanus is also similar to Carpelimus terribilus Gildenkov from the Philippines but can be distinguished by the shape of the parameres, the structure of the internal sac of the aedeagus, and the lateral margin of the pronotum. Carpelimus terribilus has a more elongate apex of the parameres and an angled lateral margin of the pronotum, but C. koreanus has a rounded apex of the parameres ( Fig. 4C View Fig ) and rounded lateral margin of the pronotum. In addition, the punctation on the lateral parts of the pronotum and elytra is about 1.3 and 1.0 times larger than the diameter of the eye facet in C. koreanus ( Fig. 1 View Fig ) but about 1.5 times larger in C. terribilus .
