( Figures 4–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 3 )
Diagnosis. Females with seta Z 1; Z 5 longer than the distance between their bases; s 4 about 16 times as long as Z 1; s 4 about eight times as long as S 2; ventrianal shield vase-shaped; genu of leg I with a macroseta; calyx of spermatheca cup-shaped, atrium small.
Specimens examined. Holotype female and a paratype female from Erythrina speciosa Andr., Pariquera-Açu , State of São Paulo, 9 October 2001, L.V.F. Silva coll.; a paratype female from Trichilia elegans A. Juss , and three paratype females from Emilia sonchifolia Benth., Pariquera-Açu , State of São Paulo, 9 October 2001, L.V.F. Silva coll., deposited at ESALQ-USP. Three paratype females from Emilia sonchifolia Benth., Pariquera-Açu , State of São Paulo, 9 October 2001, L.V.F. Silva coll., deposited at DZSJRP.
Description. Female (n= 10). Figures 4–8 View FIGURES 1 – 8. 1 – 3 .

Setae j 1 27 (26–30), j 3 38 (35–43), j 4 7 (6–8), j 5 5 (5–6), j 6 7 (6–9), J 2 6 (6–7), J 5 5 (4–7), z 2 11 (9–13), z 4 12 (10–15), z 5 5 (5–6), Z 1 5 (6–7), Z 4 92 (87–95), Z 5 112 (107–125), s 4 81 (77–88), S 2 10 (9–11), S 4 8 (7–10), S 5 9 (8–10), r 3 21 (20–23), R 1 12 (10–15). Setae smooth and pointed, except for Z 4 and Z 5, lightly serrate and pointed.
Venter. Sternal shield smooth, except for the lateral lines at fusion with the endopodal plate, three pairs of setae and two pairs of lyrifissures; distances between St 1 - St 3 63 (55–65), St 2 - St 2 84 (80–85). Genital shield smooth; distance between St 5 - St 5 76 (71–77). Ventrianal shield vase-shaped, mostly smooth, with scanty anterolateral striae, 140 (135–149) long, 87 (85–89) wide at level of ZV 2, 83 (77–91) wide at anus level, with three pairs of preanal setae (JV 1, JV 2 and ZV 2); JV 4, JV 5, ZV 1 and ZV 3 on unsclerotised cuticle, and a pair of pre-anal pores about in transverse line with JV 2. Ventral setae smooth and pointed. Two pairs of metapodal plates present. Peritreme extending beyond level of j 1.
Chelicera. Movable cheliceral digit 30–34 long, with three teeth; fixed cheliceral digit 35–36 long, with 1 two teeth and a pilus dentilis.
Spermatheca. Calyx cup-shaped, 7 long; atrium small.
Leg macrosetae. Sge I 30–37, Sge II 40–42, Sge III 47–51, Sge IV 104–119, Sti III 38–44, Sti IV 70–77, St IV 82–85, all pointed. Chaetotaxy: genu II 1–2 / 1, 2 / 0–1; genu III 1–2 / 1, 2 / 0–1. Male. Unknown.
Etymology. The name atlanticus refers to “ Mata Atlantica” (Atlantic Forest), the biome from wich the type specimens were collected.
Remarks. This new species is similar to Amblyseius quadridens Karg & Oomen-Kalsbeek, 1987 and Amblyseius saacharus Wu, 1981. Amblyseius quadridens differs from this new species by having s 4, Z 4, Z 5, Sge IV and St IV shorter (47, 56, 80, 65 and 75 respectively) and the movable cheliceral digit with four teeth. Amblyseius saacharus differs by having j 1, s 4, Z 4, Z 5, and r 3 shorter (15–17, 36 – 40, 53–58, 77 – 80 and 7 respectively) and spermathecal calyx saccular.
