Derivatio nominis. From Latin, cooperio , cover completely, referring to hypopygium is almost completely covered by tergite IX.
Diagnostic characters. The male imago is characterized by having an antenna with 8 flagellomeres, AR 0.5; anterior margin of cibarial pump distinctly concave; hooked spur on the apex of hind tibia very small; tergite IX very developed, covering most part of gonocoxite; superior volsella developed with microtrichia, antero-medially separate; inferior volsella with dented edge, placed caudally on gonocoxite; sternapodeme U–shaped, and lateral sternapodeme with caudal attachment point. Phallapodeme slightly curved, placed in caudal position of sternapodeme.
Male (n=1)
Total length 0.64 mm. Wing length 0.53 mm. Total length/wing length 1.21. Wing length/profemur length 3.06.
Coloration. Head dark brown, with black eyes. Thorax with dorsal antepronotum, dorsal scutum, scutellum, postnotum and preepisternum dark brown, medially yellowish. Legs yellowish. Abdomen: tergites?–? pale yellow; other tergites brown.
Head. Antenna with 8 flagellomeres, AR 0.50, ultimate flagellomere 82 µm long, ultimate flagellomere slightly expanded apically, with about 8 apical sensilla chaetica ( Fig. 1. C View FIGURE 1 ). Tentorium, stipes and cibarial pump as in Fig. 1. D View FIGURE 1 , tentorium 113 µm long; 10 µm wide; stipes 48 µm long, 3 µm wide. Anterior margin of cibarial pump ( Fig. 1. D View FIGURE 1 ) distinctly concave. Clypeus with 6 setae. Length of palpomeres (in µm): 12; 14; 17; 19; 29. Palpomere 5/3 ratio: 1.7.
Thorax. Dorsocentrals 4. Scutellum with 2 setae. Prealars invisible.
Wing ( Fig. 1. B View FIGURE 1 ). VR 3.1. Cu/wing length 0.55; C 134 µm long; Cu 292 µm long; wing width/wing length: 0.41. Brachiolum with 1 seta, costa with 4–5 setae.
Legs. Fore trochanter with dorsal keel. Spur of fore tibia 14 µm long, spurs of mid tibia 7 and 10 µm long, and spurs of hind tibia 29 µm long and 12 µm long. Width at apex of fore tibia 10 µm, of mid tibia 12 µm, of hind tibia (a) 20 µm. Width of hind tibia 1/3 from apex (d) 20 µm, elongation length (b) 26 µm, length of maximum thickening (c1) 38 µm, total length of thickening (c2) 48 µm; a/d 1.2; b/d 1.3; c1/d 1.9; c2/d 2.4. Hind tibia expanded, with comb of 11 setae, with small hooked spur ( Fig. 1. E View FIGURE 1 ). Lengths and proportions of legs as in Table 1 View TABLE 1 .
Hypopygium ( Fig. 1. F–G View FIGURE 1 ). Tergite IX very developed, almost covering the gonocoxite. Tergite IX and laterosternites IX without long setae. Tergite IX medially strongly concave, and pair of low caudal mounds with 2 setae on each side. Superior volsella developed, triangular-shaped, antero-medially separated. Inferior volsella with 3 long setae and many glandular setae, with dented margin, along the inner margin of gonocoxite and placed caudally. Phallapodeme scalpel–like, slightly curved, 24 µm long, and joint with sternapodeme placed caudally. Transverse sternapodeme 12 µm wide. Lateral sternapodeme with attachment point placed and directed caudally. Gonostylus slightly curved tapering, 17 µm long, with 1 subapical setae; megaseta 7 µm long. HR 2.1; HV 3.8.
