Langermannia gigantea (Batsch) Rostk. View in CoL , in Sturm, Deutschl. Fl., 3 Abt. (Pilze Deutschl.) 3: 23 (1839).
Reported as Calvatia gigantea .
Distribution:— JAMMU & KASHMIR: Sonamarg ( Cunningham 1942).
Ahmad (1941b) reported a species as C. gigantea from Sonamarg, Kashmir. Based on the description as well as comments of the species, the endoperidium has a definite mouth rather than flaking away for disseminating basidiospores. Hence, it could be a species of Lycoperdon rather than C. gigantea . Further study is required for authentic identification of this species.
